Dr. Griffith and Dr. Malhotra Named "Top Doctors"


Arthritis & Sports proudly recognizes and congratulates two of our physicians who received "Top Doctors" honors In Northern Virginia Magazine’s Top Doctors of 2017 issue (February, 2017) - Dr. Matthew Griffith and Dr. Sabina Malhotra!

Dr. Matthew Griffith was voted as one of the top doctors in the Northern Virginia area for Orthopaedic Surgery, and Dr. Sabina Malhotra was selected for her work in the field of Podiatry.

Every day, our physicians are dedicated to achieving clinical excellence to provide top-quality care for our community.

Top Doctors are chosen based on peer nominations, as well as evaluation by a panel of head doctors from local hospitals in the Northern Virginia area. This prestigious award is given to those physicians with the highest ratings based on peer and patient reviews, internal hospital evaluations, and overall quality of care.

 

Dr. Griffith is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care to patients with sports injuries and athletic, traumatic, and degenerative disorders. His expertise includes minimally invasive and arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, elbow, and knee as well as reconstructive surgery including total shoulder and reverse shoulder replacements. He is one of the few in the world to remove bakers cysts through the arthroscope, and also performs regenerative procedures like PRP injections.


Dr. Griffith attended Duke University for his undergraduate education and received his M.D. from the University of Oklahoma. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery (Cornell University) in New York City. Subsequently, he received fellowship training in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard University) where he served as an assistant team physician for the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Bruins.


In addition to his work at Arthritis & Sports, Dr. Griffith is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Griffith is dedicated to caring for athletes in the area and is currently the team physician for the Potomac Falls Panthers and Park View Patriots high school football teams.

 

Dr. Malhotra is dedicated to providing personalized, comprehensive care for all conditions of the foot and ankle. Her areas of expertise include treatment of athletic and sports-related injuries, reconstructive surgery, diabetic limb salvage, and wound care. Her professional motto is simple: "Patients first."


A native of Northern Virginia, Dr. Malhotra attended Flint Hill School where she was an active soccer and varsity tennis player. She received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Spanish at The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA. Dr. Malhotra obtained her podiatric medical degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. She then completed three years of surgical residency at MedStar Washington Hospital Center & Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Throughout her training, Dr. Malhotra was blessed to work under the mentorship of several world-renown physicians in the fields of podiatric, orthopaedic, vascular, and plastic surgery.


Dr. Malhotra is excited to bring her passion for helping others to Arthritis & Sports and strives to provide only the highest quality of care to her patients. She is an Associate Member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, an Associate Member of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, and is Board Qualified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery. She is also an active member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and has authored many professional journals, including the Clinics in Podiatric Medicine & Surgery.


Dr. Malhotra places a high emphasis on the fitness of both body and mind. She believes in leading a healthy, active lifestyle. In her free time, she enjoys power yoga, tennis, hiking, biking, singing, and photography. She is fluent in English, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi.
