It was amazing to have a local anesthetic instead of a general, and I was fascinated by being awake and watching the broken bones in my finger being realigned with pins on the screen. I would highly recommend this practice. Every member of their orthopedic team is kind, respectful and highly skilled in their field.

I had a much anticipated visit with Dr. Griffith today regarding a torn rotator cuff. Dr. Griffith provided feedback on three options regarding the tear. He was very patient and answered all my questions completely. He invited me to return if I had further questions regarding how to proceed. So professional and knowledgeable. I am currently receiving physical therapy for the arthritis in my right knee. I have been to two therapy sessions so far and the staff has been wonderful. Jeff and Dianne are great physical therapists.

As he advised before I left his practice, the pain may lessen and if it stays that way for two weeks then I’ll be good to go. If not, then the next step would be an MRI etc. I have confidence in Dr Peyton otherwise I wouldn’t have returned. (waiting for two weeks to pas)

Dr Underwood administered a cervical spine injection. It was a lot more harmless and routine than I had expected it to me. Dr Underwood explained the entire process very well which helped in taking it easy prior to the shot.

This is the office you need for orthopedic care. The front desk staff is courteous, kind, and competent. The medical staff is great…they listen well, answer questions patiently, and actually pay attention. I had an excellent experience with Dr. Ahillan. She quickly and accurately diagnosed the osteoarthritis in my thumbs and took the time to clearly explain all of my treatment oPTsions, including braces, topical medications, physical and occupational therapy, and surgery. I truly appreciated how thorough and informative she was, and I felt very confident in our decision that surgery is not necessary at this time. The entire team was wonderful. The X-ray technician was efficient and kind, and the therapist who fitted my braces was incredibly helpful and attentive. Overall, a very positive experience. Awesome. Dr Ahillen is AMAZING! She performed surgery (removed a ganglion cyst from hand) in February. She walked me through the process with laymen’s terms. She has been phenomenal and super caring.In fact, the entire practice is AMAZING. My family have been using the practice for over 25 years… football/basketball injuries and me with rotator cuff and knees.

Excellent all around. Dr. Peytondid a left total hip replacement for me in 2023. I have no problems. I've also seen him several times over the years for my right hip (done by another surgeon/practice). He is reassuring in all things. He clearly knows what he is doing, and unlike a lot of surgeons he has never been in a rush have me go under the knife. He is pleasant and has done nothing but help me. I really get the sense he cares. I can't recommend him highly enought.

Great facilities and staff

I had horrible pain in both of my knees. I seen Dr. Edwin and he did x-rays. He found that I had arthritis in both of my knees. His treatment consisted of shots in both of my knees. I am now walking pain free. My only regret was that I didn’t go sooner. The front staff is very courteous and respectful. Every one there knows their job well and works together as a team. This is not the first time Arthritis & Sports has taken very well of me. Thanks Again. It’s now about 10 months later and pain has returned. Returning pain is normal with Arthritis. I hade schedule my next appointment for 3:30 somehow I got there at 223 thinking that it’s time for my appointment. I signed the sign in sheet and they said to take a seat and wait for them to call me. 10-15 minutes pat and they said to come and see the doctor (Dr Edwin ) I seen him he was very polite gave me my shots and we wished each other well. When I got home I thought the clock was not correct. After checking another clock I had found out that I was at my appointment early. No one said a thing about being early. I was served with patience and courtesy.

My Journey with Arthritis & Sports (South Riding) I was 69 years in 2024, and had a displaced fracture of proximal end of my left humerus in a car accident overseas, late July 2024. I saw Dr David Goodwin the same day I returned, about a week after the accident with my hand in a cast. After taking an X-ray at the office a CT scan was ordered. Dr. Goodwin explained to me thoroughly the procedure and potential risks. A left proximal humerus open reduction and internal fixation surgery was performed in late August at Reston Hospital Center. I think the procedure went well. I had physical therapy (PTs) for my arm at South Riding, primarily with Christy, although I started with Ashley. Both Christy and Ashley were patient-focused and helped tremendously with my recovery. I also had to do occupational therapy (ot) at Sterling because my arm and fingers were swollen and stiff. The ot started with Hannah who did a great job, and Howie took over when Hannah went on maternity leave. Howie did what I would literally describe as “his magic” because he actually helped expedite my recovery. Initially, there was some triaging between the PTs and ot treatments because the limitations on one body part affected the other, and the folks did very well managing my situation. other PTs folks helped out occasionally, including Eleni at Sterling. And the PTs assistants at South Riding, Amir and Elana, were super helpful. As well as the folks at the front desks at both locations. During the treatment Dr Goodwin carefully managed my condition. For instance, he ordered scans/tests and asked me to see a vascular physician when my hand was swollen to rule out certain potential concerns, including blood clots. In February of 2025, Dr Goodwin performed manipulation under anesthesia (MUA) of my arm because the movement of my arm was limited and the procedure greatly improved my recovery. Right now, I’m able to do most of the things I used to do before the accident and I’m thankful for the treatment I received. I can’t say enough about the excellent treatment I received from Dr Goodwin and the therapists at Arthritis & Sports. I highly recommend them.

The doctor is very concerned about the health and he wants me to take MRI so I already called for the apPTs…The office was open to me cuz I went there for followup w/another doc…so everything was good…

Went to see Dr. Goodwin about pain in my right hand, ring finger. Same symPTsoms I had in may left hand, ring finger 6 years ago. My left hand is doing great and my right hand, ring finger and the palm area are today doing so much better (no pain today). the staff and Dr. Goodwin are understanding, quick service, and very good at what they do.

I have been a patient at Arthritis & Sports for several years. Dr.Goodwin has been treating my knee issues with injections much better than going with surgery at this point is not needed due to this treatment. Staff is wonderful also. Definitely recommend !!

Friendly efficient Excellent explaination

First and foremost, the front desk staff is excellent! They’re very friendly and helpful with any questions regarding appointments, insurance or procedures. And I have been to most of the providers that Arthritis &Sports and they are all excellent! Dr. Griffith and Lisa his pa paid my rotator cuff repair experience less painful than the actual procedure was! Lisa was also very helpful following my partial knee replacement with explaining the procedure and the not so quick recovery! And Dr. Underwood… He’s an excellent physician, offering alternative treatments to surgery and always very thorough!!

I have been going there for my sciatica pain due to L4-L5 spinal stenosis. The Physical Therapist are all professionals and give one on one attention. I’m so glad I went there, they made my leg stronger and now I’m able to walk a little more . They take you in on time and give full hour of therapy. I recommend them strongly.

Review of Dr. Matthew Griffith. Consulted Dr. Matthew Griffith for pain in right shoulder with decreased range of motion, weakness and inability to carry/hold objects such as gallon of milk. Dr. Griffith listened attentively to my concerns and offered suggestions to alleviate the pain. He ordered and MRI and promply reviewed the report leading to a diagnosis and explanation of the potential solutions before resorting to surgery.

Dr. Underwood is professional, seems very technically competent and has an excellent way of talking to and relating to his patients. I feel lucky that I was referred to him for treatment. How many years did I travel back to Loudoun County just to have my knee check by Edwin. When I had knee surgery my only concern was that Edwin would be there to be sure Dr. Peytondid everything correctly. Edwin always took his time to explain any procedure. My doctor in Texas never could meet the standards that Edwin set. I am now in New Mexico. I been told that the closest good orthopedist is in El pao. I think my best plan is to fly back to Dulles and make an appointment with Edwin. Edwin - you are truly the BEST!

Best Orthopedic office in the area. Dr. Peytonis very professional, knowledgeable & has a great bedside manner. He took the time to answer all the questions I have about an upcoming surgery. I have seen other doctors and nurse practitioners in this office and I would highly recommend all of them.

Excellent sports medicine care. Dr. Griffith really listens to patients' concerns and answers questions thoughtfully and honestly. There's no pressure to pursue specific treatment or surgery and all available oPTsions are discussed openly. I feel confident that I'm receiving the best care and will be back to 100% and running soon. The fact that Dr. Griffith is also a runner who lifts weights is beneficial in that he can relate to my impatience at wanting to get back at it. I also want to commend the front desk staff member who checked me in as she was incredibly polite and friendly. The Physicians Assistant was also professional and very helpful as well. It's nice when every encounter you have at a physician's office is so positive. I highly recommend the practice for anyone seeking orthopaedic care. The surgeons all have specialities so you're covered no matter the injury or condition. And they also offer PTs, MLS laser therapy, PRP Therapy, etc.

I just had four gel knee injections 4 weeks. I used to ask for Edwin as he's my old standby. For this series of injections they asked Shannon to iserve me. Well, my knee cavity is so tight that it takes a full minute to force the magic fluid into my knee? Shanon was so good at it, i hardly felt a thing! I can't understate how many good caring professionals you'll find at Arthritis and Sports. They take their jobs as an"act of love" and make each patient feel valued!

All of the staff at A&S clinic are amazing, but Dr Babu is the best! She did a phenomenal job fixing my foot and is so attentive! Her bedside manner is so kind and wonderful and she came highly recommended from another great podiatrist in Maryland! I highly recommend her and the clinic in general! My husband has been a patient at this clinic for various reasons over the last 11 years and we have always had the best care there.

I chose to have Arthritis and Sports perform my knee replacement because Dr Peytonwas my husband’s surgeon 15 years prior. We were very happy with his care. I met Dr Peyton’s pa and was impressed by how thoroughly he covered the operation and post-surgery. Then the staff, the nurses, technicians and coordinators are well trained in their duties and friendly and helpful.

Super efficient, knowledgeable Drs, nurses, pa nice to everything needed in one building; love how everything is explained and questions answered. I am no longer fearful about my hip joint replacement! I’ve now had both hips replaced and am super impressed with the care I’ve received. It’s only been 2 wks since 2nd hip- I’m almost ready to switch from a walker to a cane. dr Edwin removed the sutures today and was really caring how I was doing as he progressed.
