This prestigious award is given to those physicians with the highest ratings based on peer and patient reviews, internal hospital evaluations, and overall quality of care.

 

Dr. Randall S. Peyton is an award-winning, board-certified surgeon who has been practicing orthopaedics in the Northern Virginia area since 1995. Dedicated to delivering quality care, Dr. Peyton founded Arthritis & Sports in 1998, and serves as its President and CEO. Dr. Peyton is an orthopaedic total joint surgeon, focused on the treatment of arthritis, sports injuries, and musculoskeletal problems of the hip, knee, and shoulder. A native of Roanoke, VA, Dr. Peyton obtained his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia before completing his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He then completed his fellowship training in adult reconstruction and total joint replacement at the Rothman Institute of the Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.


Over the past two decades, Dr. Peyton has helped thousands of patients achieve pain-free joint function. To help his patients achieve less postoperative pain and faster recoveries, Dr. Peyton has helped pioneer several tissue-sparing alternatives to traditional total joint replacement, such as the anterior hip approach and partial knee replacement.


In addition to his work at Arthritis & Sports, Dr. Peyton is proud to support the continued training of other orthopaedic surgeons, as well as the training of future orthopaedic surgeons. In 2016, Dr. Peyton created Arthritis & Sports’ first fellowship program, which focuses on adult hip and knee reconstruction. Additionally, Dr. Peyton is regularly featured as a guest speaker at surgeon education courses throughout the country (view here). These courses address relevant concepts and techniques for hip replacement, total knee replacement, and ACL repair surgeries that comprise the foundation for the development of new and more complex surgical skills.  These courses are regularly attended by surgeons from around the world. Since 2014, Dr. Peyton has presented on anterior hip replacements during numerous courses, including Beginner, Advanced, and Revision Courses in Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Miami, and also Master's Courses in Chicago.


Frequently recognized by his patients and peers as a “Top Doctor”, Dr. Peyton has appeared in numerous publications including the Washingtonian Magazine, Northern Virginia Magazine, Castle Connolly, and Virginia Living. Dr. Peyton is a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedics Surgeons (AAOS) and belongs to several professional organizations including the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).


 

Dr. Matthew Griffith is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care to patients with sports injuries and disorders of the shoulder, upper extremity, and knee.


Dr. Griffith attended Duke University for his undergraduate education and received his M.D. from the University of Oklahoma. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery (Cornell University) in New York City. Subsequently, he received fellowship training in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard University) where he served as an assistant team physician for the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins.


Dr. Griffith is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care for patients with sports injuries and athletic, traumatic, and degenerative disorders. His expertise includes: minimally invasive and arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, elbow and knee; reconstructive surgery including total shoulder and reverse shoulder replacements; and the utilization of noninvasive procedures for injuries, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections.


In addition to his work at Arthritis & Sports, Dr. Griffith is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Griffith is dedicated to caring for athletes in the area and is currently team physician for the Potomac Falls Panthers and Park View Patriots high school football teams.


 


Dr. Sabina Malhotra specializes in providing personalized, comprehensive care for all conditions of the foot and ankle. Dr. Malhotra’s areas of expertise include treatment of athletic and sports-related injuries, reconstructive surgery, and injury prevention. Her professional motto is simple: "Patients first."


A native of Northern Virginia, Dr. Malhotra attended Flint Hill School where she played varsity tennis. She then received her Bachelor of Science at The College of William & Mary before obtaining her medical degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Following medical school, Dr. Malhotra completed three years of surgical residency at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Throughout her training, Dr. Malhotra was blessed to work under the mentorship of several world-renowned physicians in the fields of podiatric, orthopaedic, vascular and plastic surgery.


Dr. Malhotra recently received her Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Podiatric Sports Medicine, making her one of only 36 qualifying physicians in the United States with this distinction. She is board-certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. She is also an Associate Member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, an Associate Member of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, and is Board Qualified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery. An active member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, Dr. Malhotra has authored for many professional journals, including the Clinics in Podiatric Medicine & Surgery.


Frequently recognized by her patients and peers as a “Top Doctor”, Dr. Malhotra has appeared in several publications including Northern Virginia Magazine and serves as the consulting doctor for several local running clubs. Dr. Malhotra believes in the natural healing properties of the body and encourages her patients to remain active throughout the recovery process. She places a high emphasis on fitness of both body and mind, and believes in leading a healthy lifestyle.


In her free time, Dr. Malhotra enjoys traveling, tennis, hiking, biking, motorsports, and photography. She is fluent in English, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi.
