Visited for a hip consult. Doctor Goodwin ,quicky diagnosed the issue and set me on a plan to recovery.

Arthritis & Sports, Sterling Office was, again, a nice experience. The office staff, are always nice and pleasant to talk to. I needed to see Dr. Griffith about changing a scheduled shoulder replacement surgery date, due to other commitments requiring extensive travel during the recovery period. He explained to me that I would be out of the early stages of recovery and could function normally, except for less strength in my replaced surgery. Since I would be hauling luggage and carrying items while away, I went with the option of postponing the surgery for a few months. Dr. Griffith was great to talk to. He listened to my rambling concerns and told me that what ever I decide will be fine.

Edwin Encarnacion has been treating and helping me with my lower back L5-L4 issues , with his guidance attention to my questions and concerns . Together we are on the path to recovery . Thanks you very much .

Such a wonderful and efficient practice. I've seen several doctors and PAs there for various issues. All are very compassionate and knowledgeable and always do a great job of explaining what care and treatment are needed. Everyone who works there, including the X-ray technicians, the folks at the front desk, and the folks who handle check out, is very professional and very pleasant. I've never had to wait long to be taken back for my appointment, which I also hugely appreciate.

Great place! Dr. Babu and Emily (tech I think, but I’m not sure what that position is called yet lol) ARE THE BEST PEOPLE I’VE MET at this office. Very caring staff similar to Chris seems to be one of the best staff members over there on the team 🙌💯🦶🙏💪 Took me a lot of time to find the right foot doctor, just like anything else :) Although, the doctor didn’t even tell us why it my surgery time got delayed and we waited for like forever lol 😤🤔 but other than that fact, she’s great! Don’t know if this receptionist is still working there, but she was a terrible employee and seemed to be not wanting to work for the insurance (it was frustrating, and she had somehow asked other patients) and I’m sure others would be frustrated when she asked us to pay out of pocket or, when the patients/customers HAVE insurance(s) Again, other than my experiences from this location, it’s great overall experience from my personal perspectives

I was referred by my Chiropractor because of persistent pain in my right knee, which my PCP diagnosed as arthritic. From the moment I set up the appointment, every interaction, i.e., web, receptionist, three nurses, and Dr. Goodwin, was professional and expert-level. Dr. Goodwin showed me the X-ray and explained the arthritis diagnosis and showed me the source of the pain. He thoroughly discussed my condition and explained the treatment, which personally administered. Service was outstanding in all respects.

Shocked I haven't left a review for this magical place. I have had pain in my ankles for years - I went to specialists before, they saw nothing on the mri, so I did the months and months of PT. But the pain persisted. Then I went to Dr Babu who took one look at my mri (for both ankles) and knew the only fix was going to be surgery. One surgery in January with amazing results and one surgery today. She is up to date on new procedures that give great results. Tip: schedule PT asap. They fill up quick.

I have been a patient at this practice twice; once for an automobile accident resulting in a severely broken arm that Dr. Peyton took care of. I was given a 50% chance of getting 100% use of my arm back and a 100% chance I would get 50% of my arm back. Due to the care and expert surgery done by Dr.Peyton, I got 100% use of my arm back. Other than the stitches (that are uniform and straight) you would never know it was ever broken. Recently, I tore my rotator cuff in the other arm. Dr. Griffiths took all the steps necessary to avoid surgery, however, as the MRI he ordered showed it was torn and surgery was the only option to rid the pain. I had surgery on a Monday, and by Thursday I was off all pain meds (mostly Tylenol and Advil) I was told on my follow up visit everything looked great so exactly 9 days after the surgery, I will start the Physical Therapy to once again, get 100% of the use of my (other) arm back. Everybody in the practice is kind, helpful, and goes above and beyond for their patients. My son-in-law is a patient for his knee, and my daughter is scheduling an appointment to look into an injured elbow. I highly recommend this practice!

I had injured my knee after a slip in the bathroom and went right to Arthritis and Sports for help. After ordering an MRI and taking X-rays they determined I had fractured a bone in my knee and needed a brace to immobilize my leg and crutches to get around. Corey understood that I was concerned about my upcoming cruise and he made sure so could safely go snd enjoy myself. I heartily recommend Arthritis and Sports for any orthopedic needs you have.

I had an excellent experience with Dr. David S. Goodwin and his practice. My 8:00 AM appointment started right on time, and the entire staff was friendly, professional, and efficient. I really appreciated that they were able to take my X-rays right there in the office, and Dr. Goodwin reviewed them with me immediately, explaining everything clearly and answering all of my questions. I will give Dr. Goodwin a 5-star as he was pleasant, extremely knowledgeable, and asked what questions I had although I did not have many since no surgery is required at this time. He said a few words on the way out with no 'nice to meet you, see you in a month' or anything. His staff was not the friendliest. I am not an expert in the medical field and had to pull information from them to figure out next steps. I came to discuss Ortho and PT and they seemed to be referring me elsewhere for PT instead of their place. I prefer to stay with one practice for total treatment if they offer it and they are familiar w my case - which they do. They just did not seem like a happy bunch and I got the brunt of that today. I will still try them for PT and see how it goes. I expect basic courtesy and clear communication from my healthcare team. The transactional and cold behavior by the nurse and X-Ray technician I experienced was completely unacceptable. I am incredibly frustrated by this experience and expect the clinic leadership to address this lack of professionalism with the staff involved.

We have seen PA Monica Novak and Dr Griffith. Also, years ago, I took my mom to see Dr. Ahillen. All three physicians treated us with care and respect, took their time to listen and to explain, and provided thoughtful knowledgeable responses. The staff has been friendly and helpful. The only reason I almost gave 4 stars and not 5 for this review, is due to an experience we had in the past (am assuming the situation hasn't changed) and it is that although the practice is located in Sterling, VA, a majority of surgery offerings with Dr. Griffith were in Maryland, and only a few surgical appointments were available in Reston. We do not want to travel to Maryland for surgery and so we had to wait longer to have a surgery in Reston.

I had a much anticipated visit with Dr. Griffith today regarding a torn rotator cuff. Dr. Griffith provided feedback on three options regarding the tear. He was very patient and answered all my questions completely. He invited me to return if I had further questions regarding how to proceed. So professional and knowledgeable. Explained technical protocol in a way I could easily understand. Edited to add Dr. Griffith did the surgery April, 26. It was an amazing experience. Capital Orthopaedic, where the surgery was performed, is a great facility with highly qualified and personable staff. The pain after surgery ways no worse than the pain I had for months before the surgery. Pain meds for two days and that was its Almost three months after surgery and a lot of PT, I am almost fully recovered, lifting light weights and loving life. Dr. Griffith and his staff are amazing. I wholeheartedly recommend him if you are considering surgery’s

I saw Dr Griffith for a torn meniscus. He first sent me for a MRI. After the report came in we decided to do the least invasive yet effective treatment- a cortisone shot. He is kind, patient, explains all well and doesn’t rush. I highly recommend him. The Staff is also friendly, efficient & helpful. Score a 10*!!

I was pretty apprehensive about replacing my hip joints, but am so happy my rheumatologist recommended Dr Peyton and his team. I knew what to expect, was able to do the PT near home ( I am 75-90 minutes from this location) the surgery center was awesome and my followuos with Dr Edwin were terrific. He was always smiling and attentive and paid attention to my questions.

I need PT for bursitis in my hips. I saw Vishikha and she was awesome! She targeted the issue right away and had me perform various stretches and exercises. I will continue with her for the next 6 weeks. My husband is also seeing her for a torn hamstring. She’s very good!

I visited 3 other doctors prior to having total knee replacement surgery and when I met with Dr. Randall Peyton, I immediately knew he would be my surgeon. From his delightful manner, very informative and patient with my questions. The office in Sterling is pristine. The staff are wonderful and the best part was that the waiting time was not even 5 minutes! They always see me right away, take x-rays right away with no wait. This generally doesn't happen! I love Dr. Peyton and his staff and I highly recommend him if you are thinking of any surgery.

Dr Peyton diagnosed my knee issue as actually a disc issue in my spine. He worked quickly with another doctor to have my issue addressed at the nearby medical center.

PT did not provide the level of relief my elderly mom needed for her right arthritic knee. I appreciate that Dr. Goodwin recommended a cortizone injection. Mom gets nervous when it comes to needles, but Dr. Goodwin gave the injection in such a way that she remained calm and did not react negatively. Since the injection, mom has been getting up and climbing stairs without grabbing her knee mid-motion. It seems the relief she needed was found and was administered in an effective way considered mom’s fear. Thank you.

I was referred to Dr. Underwood by my physical therapist. He was an excellent recommendation. He takes the time to really listen to you, is kind, and patient. I’ve had two ESIs with him for a herniated disc and the treatment is significantly less uncomfortable than with other doctors. He does cadual injections where they inject near your tailbone instead of the middle of your spine. I have only had mild pain or no pain at all with this method. Highly recommended!

. I just had another epidural injection with Dr. James Underwood — I believe this was my sixth one with him. I’m currently trying to postpone surgery for as long as possible because I have two little children at home, and throughout this entire process Dr. Underwood has been incredibly kind, understanding, and compassionate. He truly cares about his patients. I’ve even had to bring my kids with me to appointments, and he and his office have always been accommodating and supportive. During one consultation, he saw how much pain and discomfort I was in, and when I asked if there was any way he could fit me in sooner, he immediately said he would do everything he could — and he got me in the very next day. I went to Arthritis & Sports Orthopedics for physical therapy on my neck and shoulders which had seized up together about a month ago following an illness. Christy was my PT and assessed my limitations and established a therapy plan for me. Dr Goodwin is knowledgeable and diagnoses well, he is a very pleasant person

I saw PA Monica for right knee pain. Monica was absolutely wonderful!! She thoroughly examined my knee and she took the time to explain my previous X-rays and how it related to my current knee pain. Monica succeeded in addressing my issue while continuing to explain what she was doing and why. My sincere thank you to Monica and the entire Team!

You want Lisa for your post surgical follow up. She reviews the details of your surgical procedure and your likely recovery experience. She makes thoughtful recommendation for problems experienced in the recovery. She addresses your concerns with patience and clarity.

The place to visit if you have knee pain of any type. What I thought was knee pain was actually hamstring. My PA was very charismatic, knowledgeable and she listened. Appointment was on time, no long sitting and waiting.

I had a pleasant visit with Dr. Payton. I was very impressed by his patient explanations and the level of detail he provided to make sure I understood everything, including all available options, what to expect after surgery, and when I would need surgery if it becomes necessary.

I made an appointment with Dr. Goodwin for an 2nd opinion on my knees. Dr Goodwin was able to offer me at least 3 options to delay knee replacement surgery, since I don’t want to go though knee replacement again in my elder years. The first doctor said my *only* options are NSAIDs or surgery, so I was pleased to have more options, at least for now. Dr. Goodwin was pleasant, kind, and listened carefully, was quick to understand and act, and is not giving me false hope, either. 5 stars!

I had hand therapy with Howie. He is great and very nice.

Received SI injections in my lower back. Dr. Underwood was extremely friendly and professional. Procedure was smooth and simple Highly recommend Arthritis and Sports for any and orthopedic issues.

Went to Dr. Babu for a foot problem. She administered a cortisone shot in one of my toe joints. I must admit, I was very nervous about this. She was so gentle and did an amazing job. Thanks, Dr. Babu!

Dr. Ahillen is Amazing!!! Dr. Ahillen treated my teenage son in April of 2026, and she was outstanding in terms of her approach and communication. She knows how to connect with a young male patient and explained everything with respect. She was very knowledgeable and confident, but not arrogant. Her bedside manner is like nothing I've seen before. She is also kind of cool. Loved her!! Thank you for your outstanding service Dr. Ahillen.

She’s the dr you want. Treats you like a person with feelings and a life outside of the office! Had to bring my child with me and she seamlessly involved him in such a way he and I could understand what was going on and why. The visit didn’t feel rushed and she explained my options so well. Wish she was my PCP! 10/10 will always recommend.

Another great visit with Dr. Griffith. Every aspect of the practice is outstanding from checking in, to the process with the attending nurse and of course, the visit with Dr. Griffith. Everything is always outstanding the care and follow up are fantastic. I would highly recommend the practice to anyone needing orthopedic help.

Dr Goodwin was great, shared my CT scan images of my sternum fracture in layman terms! My daughter and granddaughter was very impressed with him.

Great Experience ! (Again). This visit was for pain in my left arm. Dr. Griffith was great to work with (again). He's Polite, Professional and provided his diagnosis of 'Tennis Elbow' along with treatment options in a clear easy to understand manner. Great Hand Doctor. Dr Ahillen is great doctor specializing in hands and wrists. I have received shots for trigger fingers and am now a regular using of a wrist brace to help with the soreness in my thumb. She is conservative in her treatment recommendations which I like.

Dr. Ahillen was extremely competent, knowledgeable, thorough and informed me of all treatment options. In addition, she reviewed future treatment options if and when current therapy was no longer effective. Her bedside manner was delightful and she was efficient. I highly recommend her.
