Why does my foot hurt when I walk?
Foot pain while walking can result from overuse injuries, plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, stress fractures, arthritis, improper footwear, or biomechanical issues such as flat feet or high arches. Pain may also stem from nerve compression, inflammation, or circulation problems. Sudden increases in activity level or changes in shoes can trigger symptoms. Persistent pain, swelling, or difficulty bearing weight should be evaluated by an orthopedic or podiatric specialist. Early diagnosis helps prevent worsening injuries and allows targeted treatment such as orthotics, physical therapy, rest, or medical management. Supportive footwear, gradual activity progression, and strengthening exercises often help reduce discomfort and improve mobility.
