Celebrating Our Medical Assistants: The Heart of Patient Care

October 21, 2026 | Medical Assistants Recognition Day
Behind every successful appointment is a team of dedicated professionals working together to make patients feel comfortable, informed, and cared for.
This Medical Assistants Recognition Day, Arthritis & Sports Orthopaedics is celebrating the hardworking medical assistants who make a difference in our patients' lives every day. From the first moments of an appointment to the final steps of a visit, these essential team members help create the welcoming, supportive experience our patients deserve.
More Than a Helping Hand: The Role of Medical Assistants
When you visit an orthopaedic practice, you may be dealing with an injury, ongoing pain, limited mobility, or uncertainty about what comes next. Our medical assistants understand that even a routine appointment can feel overwhelming, and their compassion and attention to detail help make the experience easier.
Working alongside our physicians and advanced practice providers, medical assistants support many aspects of the patient care experience, including:
Preparing patients for appointments: Helping patients get settled, gathering important information, and making sure they're ready to see their provider.
Supporting examinations and procedures: Assisting our clinical team with examinations, treatments, and procedures as appropriate to their roles.
Keeping care coordinated: Preparing examination rooms, organizing supplies, and communicating with other team members to help appointments run smoothly.
Providing reassurance: Offering a friendly face, a listening ear, and compassionate support when patients need it most.
While much of their work happens away from the spotlight, their contributions are felt throughout every busy clinic day.
Supporting Exceptional Orthopaedic Care in Sterling and South Riding
At Arthritis & Sports, delivering exceptional orthopaedic care takes more than the expertise of our physicians. It takes an entire team working together toward one shared goal: helping patients feel better, recover stronger, and return to the activities they love.
Our medical assistants are an important part of that effort.
Dr. Randall S. Peyton, President and CEO of Arthritis & Sports Orthopaedics, recognizes the important role medical assistants play in supporting both patients and providers: “Our medical assistants do so much more than help our clinics run smoothly. They build relationships with our patients, support our providers, and bring compassion to every interaction. We're fortunate to have such a dedicated team, and I couldn't be more appreciative of the work they do every day.”
Whether helping someone through a difficult appointment, preparing for the next patient, or anticipating the needs of our clinical team, their dedication strengthens the care we provide at our Sterling and South Riding offices.
Their hard work, patience, teamwork, and compassion reflect the values that have guided our practice since 1998: Patients First. Improve Lives.
