About Total Joint Replacement

Joint replacements help people of all ages get back to their pain-free, active lives - but choosing to undergo a joint replacement is no small decision. When it comes to making this decision, our joint replacement specialists are here to help you navigate your options to give you back the active and pain-free life you deserve.

A joint is a structure of the body where two or more bones are fitted together. The ends of these bones are connected by a flexible tissue called cartilage. In a healthy joint, this protective cushion allows the ends of your bones to move smoothly without the end touching. Over time, your cartilage wears away, allowing the rough edges of bone to rub against each other which can cause pain. If the cartilage has been damaged by disease or injury, this tissue may already be inflamed, causing you more pain.

During total joint replacement surgery, also known as arthroplasty, the arthritic or damaged joint is surgically removed and replaced with an artificial joint known as a prosthesis. This type of procedure is performed to alleviate pain, stiffness, or immobility caused by damaged joint cartilage. If only parts of the joint are damaged, your surgeon may be able to repair or replace just the damaged parts.

Should you and your doctor determine that a partial or total joint replacement surgery is the right option for you, you can take comfort in knowing that our dedicated physicians use the latest technology and techniques to ensure the best outcomes for each patient.
