Physical Therapy Technician

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Prepares treatment area for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols.

  • Provides information to patients by answering questions and requests; allaying fears.

  • Helps treat patients by applying heat packs; paraffin dips; helping patients onto exercise equipment, monitoring motion; tracking walking time and distance; measuring mobility; performing prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques.

  • Educates patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines.

  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment, including cleaning beds/exercise equipment and washing/folding laundry as necessary.

  • Maintains physical therapy supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.

  • Maintains patient flow sheets by filing and pulling flow sheets as needed.​

  • Greets patients and explains patient benefit information to new patients.

  • Verifies and enters patient demographic and insurance information.

  • Responsible for ensuring patients have appropriate insurance referral for treatment being rendered.

  • Collects insurance copays or other patient balances and review accounts as needed.

  • Answers incoming phone calls, schedules appointments and accurately relays patient messages to providers.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Bachelors degree in exercise science or related field; or equivalent training/experience within physical therapy practice.

  • CPR/AED certification (not required but preferred)
