Physical Therapy Technician

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares treatment area for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols.

Provides information to patients by answering questions and requests; allaying fears.

Helps treat patients by applying heat packs; paraffin dips; helping patients onto exercise equipment, monitoring motion; tracking walking time and distance; measuring mobility; performing prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques.

Educates patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines.

Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.

Maintains safe and clean working environment, including cleaning beds/exercise equipment and washing/folding laundry as necessary.

Maintains physical therapy supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.

Maintains patient flow sheets by filing and pulling flow sheets as needed.

Greets patients and explains patient benefit information to new patients.

Verifies and enters patient demographic and insurance information.
-
Responsible for ensuring patients have appropriate insurance referral for treatment being rendered.

Collects insurance copays or other patient balances and review accounts as needed.

Answers incoming phone calls, schedules appointments and accurately relays patient messages to providers.

Bachelors degree in exercise science or related field; or equivalent training/experience within physical therapy practice.
